Potty Training Day 1
Even though we’re kind of potty training by necessity, I still want to have a record of things for my own knowledge.
The Gnome will be 22 months old on August 10th. We started potty training Wednesday, August 8th.
We put him in regular briefs the night of August 7th for bedtime. That was a big fat mommy and daddy fail. Neither of us remembered that he was wearing “big boy underwear” the next morning. We were still trying to sleep while he was jumping all over us in bed. Until I felt something wet on my back. That was Accident #1.
Hubby put The Gnome back in a diaper while I was cleaning up the mess. As soon as he left for work, I changed The Gnome back into big boy undies (the diaper was dry) and got back on track.
I should have realized that he almost always poops first thing in the morning and left him naked. Poop is going to be our biggest obstacle, I think. He’s only pooped on the potty one time ever and that was a fluke. Needless to say, we quickly had Accident #2.
For the rest of the day he did really well. We only left the RV briefly to take a walk and then to walk to the shower facilities and take a shower. I put him on the potty (kind of, see my confession) every 45 minutes to an hour and he almost always goes.
My sister came by to visit around 3pm and I couldn’t get him to go while my sister and niece were there. As soon as they left, we had Accident #3.
At 5pm, I started prepping for dinner and we had Accident #4. The rest of the evening was uneventful and we put him to bed in big boy undies again.
Tally:
Pee accidents: 3
Poo accidents: 1
He did poo today.
