And, oh I can’t wait for the hand washing part of the Flats and Handwashing Challenge to be over! Yesterday (day 4) was leak free again though, so that means we have been leak free since day 2. Woo! We spent the better part of the evening yesterday at a car dealership purchasing a new (to us) vehicle and had no problems with the flats whatsoever.

This is unrelated to the challenge but the lactivist in me has to share: We sat down at our 60+ year old male car salesman’s desk to start working on the paperwork and The Gnome started to fuss a little. As I was talking to John (the salesman), I pulled up my shirt and started nursing uncovered at his desk. To my amazement (in a good way), he didn’t skip a beat. He said, “my wife nursed our first for FOUR YEARS. She was really big in La Leche, are they still around?” My hubby’s response was, “That’s AWESOME.” I don’t think I could have had a bigger grin on my face.

1 – I’m so proud of how far I’ve come as far as nursing in public goes. Ever since before Vegas, I haven’t used my nursing cover. In fact, I’m not sure where it is. 2 – I’m so proud of this man for being a little lactivist himself. My hubby keeps telling me that’s the only reason I wanted to buy the car from him!

Back to the challenge, we didn’t get home until 11 last night & that’s late for us. Gnomie is asleep by 7:30pm and we’re all in bed by 9 or 10. So, needless to say, diapers didn’t get washed last night. And probably won’t again tonight since we’re going back to the dealer (I changed my mind on color, yes – I am THAT customer). I found myself mentally counting how many flats we had left to see if I could just wash covers and stretch the flats out until I can use my washer on Monday. No wonder Kim’s post over at Dirty Diaper Laundry was all about EC. I’d much rather try that than hand wash these diapers. Especially since I’m going to have 3 days worth tomorrow.

We had a play date this morning, that’s why our post was later than usual :)

I haven’t washed them since day 2 (hubby did day 3) but I’m on my last cover and absolutely have to do them today. I DON’T WANNA!

    WOW, that is awesome!

You have enough to not wash for almost the whole week!? That’s amazing. LOL I think I could have gotten 2 days.

I don’t know about the whole week but I had 24 flats that Swaddlebees generously gave to us. He wears his night night diaper from 7:30pm – 7:30am (2 flats, 1 cover). And then I change him about every 3 hours during the day so that’s 6 flats total unless he poops more than once. We could make it 4 days on just flats and I have about 6 receiving blankets that work really well too, that’s 5 days!
