I am a total Dove conditioner addict. I usually buy the Intensive Repair Conditioner since it makes my hair silky smooth and so easy to comb through after my shower. And, P&G always has great coupons – sometimes I can even get it for free!
When Dove offered to send me some of their conditioner to check out, I jumped at the opportunity. I didn’t know what I was going to get so it was kind of like Christmas when I got my package. They ended up sending me the Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner. According to Dove, it smooths rough, dry, and frizzy hair.
Summer is always really rough on my hair. I spend a lot of time outdoors, and usually in and out of the water. I also tend to do my hair more (which means a blow dryer and a flat iron) since I’m out and about much more than in the winter. This means my hair is usually drier and frizzier than the rest of the year.
I love Dove because their advanced conditioners help to nourish and repair my hair. I can tell a big difference between when I use the thinner, other conditioners and when I use Dove’s advanced conditioners. Apparently, my husband can too. The man who NEVER mentions my hair, ever.
Yesterday, he told me that my hair looked really healthy and had a pretty sheen to it. I consider that a win for Dove conditioner!

This is Chet.
Chet came home with us on accident.
We went to Target to get big boy undies (Parenting – with Crappy Pictures has a great post about Target). Somewhere along the way, this ugly bulldog ended up in our cart.
The Gnome was kissing and cuddling this stupid bulldog and when it came time to put him back, he said no way. That’s never happened before. He’s usually pretty enthusiastic about returning things to where they belong.
It was $3. And it was the week that we went completely off budget. So, the dog came home with us.
As we were walking to the car, I asked The Gnome what he wanted to name the bulldog.
“Shit.”
Okay, Chet it is.
Now we have a bulldog with no feet (because I dropped it in the parking lot the next day) named Chet.
Way to be a minimalist Lori, way to go.

Welcome to Manic Mommy Monday Tuesday! Every week we link up blog posts that are updates about us and what is going on in our lives.
And this, folks, is exactly why I have passed the bar on to Heather from 2 Sleeping Babies and Tara from Crunchier by the Day.
Obviously, living in a travel trailer while trying to build your itty bitty dream home on raw land is stressful enough. Add in spotty, unreliable internet and a business that takes priority over your blog and well, something like Manic Mommy Monday just isn’t getting the love it deserves.
I was incredibly sick on Sunday so I didn’t have a chance to schedule a post for Monday. And of course, yesterday my internet wasn’t working when I sat down to work. It took me two and a half hours to open the Bumby preorder for Gnome’s Naturals before it stopped working altogether (and I didn’t even get to finish completely).
Now, I’m sitting in the parking lot of Lowe’s (oh thank you so much for your free internet Lowe’s) while The Gnome naps in his car seat. I finished the preorder and I am FINALLY able to write a bit about how I am passing the torch to Heather and Tara. By the way, they’re both awesome so show them some love and link up next Monday.
I have a lot to write about: we’re on day 12 or something of potty training, Bringing Back The Village is looking further and further out of reach, we’re running into snafu after snafu with our land/building, life is so stressful and crazy living in 216sf, and my marriage has never been more incredible. But, I will have to save those things for another day because I really want to get this posted before The Gnome wakes up. Just in case.
And how are YOU today? If you enjoy reading about The Gnome & his family, like us on Facebook, add us on Google+, and follow us on twitter! While you’re at it… check out our Networked Blogs box in the right sidebar!
Nothing too exciting to report today…
Everything went really well for most of the day. We had a busy day and The Gnome did well everywhere. He peed at the doctor’s office. He peed at JC Penney. And he peed at a restaurant.
He peed in the potty.
He peed in the trash can.
He peed on the floor (sorry JCP, I cleaned it up though).
We went all day with no accidents. He took a late nap so we let him stay up a little late and he was outside with Hubby for an hour right before bed time. Apparently Hubby was on the phone and not paying attention to him because he came in with wet undies.
One accident all day. I was pretty bummed even though I know this should be super exciting. I am just worried that this is more elimination communication than it is potty training because he very rarely tells us that he needs to go. Most of the time it is me asking over and over again.
Still, 3 days without diapers and only one accident today. I’ll take it.
Tally:
Pee accidents: 1
Poo accidents: 0
He did NOT poo today.

*Potty training posts are posting days after they happen to maintain my post schedule.
I know I come across as pretty natural-minded and I am, in most aspects.
When it comes to medicine, I am not.
I had a medicated birth and I am pretty quick to take medications if I know they’ll make me feel better. I am a little more wary about what I put in The Gnome’s little body, but I still place a lot of faith in Western Medicine.

I feel like I’ve been doing MMM a disservice by not posting the last two Mondays. Honestly, I’m barely keeping my head above water right now. I’ve stepped back from both of the blogs because Gnome’s Naturals has to be my first priority – I owe it to my customers.
So, I’m looking for a new host for the Manic Mommy Monday blog hop! It’s so easy, all you need to do is create and post a linky Sunday or Monday (or before).
I think it’s a great hop and that’s why I don’t want to disband it. It’s so nice hearing what’s going on with all of my blogger friends. I still want to participate, I just can’t reliably post the linkys.
If you’re interested in hosting Manic Mommy Monday, please email me by clicking here. Interest will determine how I pick a new host.

The Gnome woke up around 2am and Hubby took him to the potty where he went pee. At 6:30 when he woke up, we didn’t make the same mistake we made on day 1. Hubby got him up and into the bathroom right away.
We spent most of the morning at the laundromat. Instead of standard briefs, I put EcoPosh training pants on The Gnome with sustainablebabyish underwoolies over them. He peed at the laundromat three times!
When we got home, the briefs went back on. When I thought he looked like he was going to poo, I would put him on the potty. I did have to bribe him with M&Ms, ice cubes, and Cheddar Bunnies to sit on the potty a few times.

Even though we’re kind of potty training by necessity, I still want to have a record of things for my own knowledge.
The Gnome will be 22 months old on August 10th. We started potty training Wednesday, August 8th.

Confession: I’m Not Actually POTTY Training My Kid.
I have written that since we’re lacking laundry facilities, I have decided to potty train my kid rather than put him in disposable diapers. Well, that’s mostly true.
Except the potty part.
My kid has this weird habit of leaning back on the potty and fire hosing the bathroom. Funny if you don’t have to clean it up. And if you aren’t in the line of fire.
He also isn’t a huge fan of sitting on the potty. But he’s not tall enough to stand up and make it in the potty. So, we got kind of creative.

Remember when I participated in the Flats and Hand Washing Challenge? I can’t forget it, it was awful. So awful that, as much as I love and advocate for cloth diapers, I skipped the challenge this year. Ironically, I found myself without access to a washer and dryer just a few weeks later.
Since we’re staying in an RV right now, our washer and dryer are in storage. Prior to the flats challenge, I would’ve recommended flats and hand washing to anyone in my position. Having tried it, I know that is not a viable option for our family. I love flats, but I despise hand washing.
I decided to stick with what we currently use, fitteds and wool, and use a laundromat. I generally try to wash our diapers every night or every other night. Since we would have to drive to a laundromat and pay for each wash, I decided to switch to every 3rd day.
